SEGUIN MOREAU is getting the new year off to a good start: its American subsidiary announced on January 24 that it had completed the acquisition of Fine Northern Oak, a specialized oak alternatives company.
FINE NORTHERN OAK, THE BEST OF AMERICAN OAK
With more than a decade of experience, Fine Northern Oak has based its development on sourcing and aging top-quality fine grain American oak and designing products for targeted extraction rates.
The American company based in Appleton, Wisconsin, underwent years of research trials studying fibres orientation’s effect on extraction of oak flavour compounds, including those resulting from toasting. Its efficient product shapes capitalize on scientific findings, designed towards controlled extraction times.
A STRATEGIC ACQUISITION FOR SEGUIN MOREAU
The cooperage will acquire the existing equipment and inventory of Fine Northern Oak, as well as its commercial brand. Founder David PLUMB remains with the company and current sales agent Philippe MICHEL (Oak Tradition) will continue to represent it in the Pacific Northwest.
Fine Northern Oak will operate as part of the SEGUIN MOREAU group and will benefit from the quality control and resources within the group. Furthermore, an extended agreement was reached with the company’s wood supplier to ensure consistent quality and additional volume of oak.
